Half Century More (HCM) has entrusted Barry Design Associates (BDA) once again to renovate a property that already garnished a Gold Key Award for Senior Living Facilities in 2003. BDA is working with HCM and world-renowned architect Perkins Eastman to set a new standard in high-end senior living facilities.
At the outset of this project, BDA researched seniors’ needs, lifestyles and tastes. What emerged is a design for Kashiwa III that will not only be beautiful and elegant, but creates an environment that is active, lively, and comfortable, and most importantly, one that promotes wellbeing.
Public areas will provide a serene and calm atmosphere to reduce stress and promote healing. Throughout the property, residents will be able to connect to nature in various ways, a design approach that is supported by evidence that even 3-5 minutes of contact with nature can significantly decrease stress, reduce anger and fear, and increase pleasant feelings. Views to the outside, interior gardens and artwork with nature themes will be just some of the ways this connection to nature will be created.
The soaring lobby, custom glass chandelier and Sycamore wood paneling, paired with marble floors and columns, will create a rich, sumptuous environment for the residents to relax and enjoy the beauty that surrounds them. Furniture with curved lines and in smaller proportions will be designed to meet the standards of HCM.
The overall design scheme is designed to be warm, soothing and approachable, and is based on earth-inspired colors and materials, light and dark neutrals, and warm tones of grays, beiges and browns. An uplifting shade of yellow will be used as an accent to stimulate the intellect and the senses.
