A long-time client, Crown Center collaborated with Barry Design Associates (BDA) to convert a Hyatt Regency property to what is now the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel. Conveniently located in the heart of Kansas City’s Crown Center complex, and near downtown Kansas City, the Sheraton offers 42,850 SF of meeting space on four floors, a recreation center and the largest hotel ballroom in the city.
Taking cues and inspiration from Kansas City’s nearby famous gardens and museums, the new design is a modern interpretation of classic style consistent with the Sheraton brand. Using contemporary materials and traditional shapes, BDA created a harmonious design that can be seen throughout the hotel.
A clever element of the conversion was incorporating The LINK into the hotel lobby, on the mezzanine bridge, at the entrance to the mezzanine-level restaurant, and within a coffee bar. The LINK concept is exclusive to Sheraton and provides a connection to the Internet and printers for guests, eliminating the need to build a separate business center.
The existing revolving restaurant was converted into the Sheraton Club Lounge and a meeting room. The rooms have 360 degree views of Kansas City.
