Barry Design Associates (BDA) was asked to take on the challenge of designing and re-opening the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina Hotel after it had been closed for a year due to a hurricane. The hotel was in need of considerable reconstruction and restoration due to the extensive damage it had sustained.
Today, the overall design of the Hilton Fort Lauderdale hotel reflects a style reminiscent of the Old Havana era. Subtle and bold colors mix together to create a dramatic ambiance that is warm and inviting. Upon arrival, guests are treated to a spectacular, seamless view of the marina beyond the lobby. The entire lobby level is an open plan with various areas distinctively crafted with subtle level changes, with the reception, bar and lounge situated a few steps below the main lobby area.
The outdoor deck level interior lounge floor was finished with beautiful yet durable Ipe wood which is carried through to the outdoor deck area where guests are treated to a stunning fire pit with indoor and outdoor vistas. The entire lobby area is outfitted with modern furniture and fixtures, including plush sofas with bright colored pillows, a shaggy rug, and a custom light fixture with countless sphere-shaped glasses draped on rods that can be enjoyed from all angles.
The design of the standard guestrooms reflects a contemporary style, and boasts a fresh and relaxing atmosphere. The color palette is a neutral sand tone with accents of cool blue and green tones drawn from the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, while the overall design concept is influenced by the hotel’s location along the inter-coastal waterway.
