Renowned Interior Architect Robert Barry Adds His Signature Style to One of Florida’s Premier Resort Destinations

(Los Angeles, CA-November, 2006) The celebrated Naples, Florida retreat formerly known as the Registry Resort & Club has relaunched and opened their doors under a new name following a multi-million dollar revitalization headed by esteemed interior architect Robert Barry of the Los Angeles-based Barry Design Associates (BDA). Now known as the Naples Grande Resort & Club, the property underwent a complete interior renovation to better provide guests with the ultimate in contemporary luxury.

“On all accounts, this has been a very successful project for us,” said Robert Barry from the BDA headquarters in Los Angeles. “The Naples Grande team was very open to exploring new concepts and the beautiful location and existing architecture provided us with an exceptional palette from which to work.”

Set on 23 acres of waterfront property along the Gulf Coast of Florida, The Naples Grande Resort & Club turned to BDA to head this major undertaking after having reviewed project proposals from top firms throughout the world. Specializing in four and five-Star hotels, resorts, spas and restaurants, BDA and their acclaimed international team of designers provided their well known commitment to extensive research, incorporation of the environment and use of the latest design technologies in the creation of a distinctive, memorable and sustainable design.

The BDA team transformed 395 guestrooms and 29 tower suites by utilizing clean, sharp lines, modern furnishings and natural wall coverings to create a contemporary “beach” feel.  The spectacular views of the Gulf of Mexico inspired the redesign of the lobby, lounge, restaurant, banquet facility and the Asian-Inspired bungalows located next to the main resort.

The final phase of the project will be unveiled in early 2007 with the debut of the BDA designed Golden Door® Spa which will feature elements influenced by traditional Japanese architecture, serene and simple lines with natural stone and Wood. A feature of the Golden Door Spa is the meditation maze.

“Revitalizations of high-end resort properties such as the Naples Grande provide a unique set of circumstances and rewards for our designers,” said Barry, recipient of the Hospitality Design Magazine’s coveted “Platinum Circle Award” for career excellence. “It’s a balancing act of maintaining the history of an already established, successful destination while offering something new and exciting to the guests. We’re proud to say that our goal was accomplished with the Naples Grande.”
