Former Lobby Lounge At Regent Beverly Wilshire Successfully Transitions Into Beverly Hills Hot Spot

(July 12, 2006 – Los Angeles, CA) – With the successful renovation of THE BLVD, the former Lobby Lounge housed in the famed Regent Beverly Wilshire hotel, the interior design firm of Barry Design Associates has again applied their signature skills to a historical property leading to a marked revenue increase and increased visibility. The Los Angeles-based company has also created the interiors for the properties new 8,000 sq. foot spa. This elegant and exclusive retreat is slated to open at the end of July.

Major renovations undertaken by well-established properties in the hospitality industry can be a risky venture. But when the property is one of the most recognized in the world, the endeavor is made even more complex. In the transformation of the once classically elegant space into a French-Deco styled environment fused with a modern twist, Barry Design Associates skillfully preserved the past while incorporating the latest in contemporary design strategies, ultimately appealing to loyal hotel guests while also attracting local trend-setters.

“Working on such a well-known local landmark was particularly inspirational for our designers,” says Robert Barry, Founder and President of the firm which was recently honored with the coveted Gold Key Award for Excellence in Hospitality Design. “We realized that our design needed to embrace tradition yet offer a contemporary elegance.” Regent Beverly Wilshire General Manager Radha Arora adds, “Our goal was to provide our hotel guests and the community with a premiere dining experience in a lively atmosphere. By all accounts, the renovation has been a complete success.”

To achieve his goals, Robert Barry, chose a color palette of amber, espresso and grass green. Lacewood-clad columns and Macassar Ebony window arches dynamically frame chocolate brown upholstered leather walls that sit on a Byzantine inspired custom Axminster carpet.

Further drama is added with an 18-foot lighted onyx and Macassar Ebony bar and an illuminated acrylic wine display running the length of the room. The bar area is defined by onyx and black granite striped floors that serve as a classic and modern transition from the hotel lobby.  Enormous gilt mirrors reflect the sparkle of the original crystal chandeliers and the amber lights crafted from new custom molded glass sconces inspired by French deco ironwork.

Two 11-foot mohair settees with lush silk velvet pillows offset rosewood dining tables and leather oval-backed dining chairs. To further take advantage of the view of the elegant storefronts along Rodeo Drive, 24 al fresco dining seats with polished celadon granite-topped tables sit outside of the restaurant combining high style with old world sophistication.

The stylish bistro provides the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, a power lunch or a sophisticated dinner.  Enveloped by the posh surrounding of Beverly Hills, THE BLVD promises to provide exquisite food and excellent service.
